Sacrament of Holy Matrimony
Marriage is based on the consent of the contracting parties, that is,
on their will to give themselves, each to the other, mutually and definitively,
in order to live a covenant of faithful and fruitful love.

Journeying Towards Married Life in Christ
Congratulations! It’s a blessed occasion to be marrying the one you love and to pledge a commitment to building your lives together in the Sacrament of Holy Matrimony.
The Sacrament of Holy Matrimony is a beautiful covenant, instituted by God, which unites a man and a woman in an indissoluble, lifelong union. It is a profound call to holiness, ordered towards the good of the spouses and the procreation and education of offspring. Through this Sacrament, a couple enters into a partnership of the whole of life, sealed by God's grace, reflecting Christ's unwavering love for His Church.
We rejoice with you as you prepare for this sacred commitment and look forward to supporting you on your journey towards married life.
Getting Started: Essential Steps for Your Marriage at Holy Family
Here's a comprehensive guide to help you arrange your wedding in our parish. It's advisable to begin this process well in advance, ideally one year prior to your desired wedding date, as reservation of the date is subject to availability and fulfilment of the required conditions.
1. Eligibility for the Couple 👫
At least one of you must be a baptised Catholic. Both parties also need to be free to marry, meaning you're not currently bound by a prior valid marriage or any other impediment.
2. Choose Your Date & See a Priest 🗓️
Once you have your desired wedding date, see a priest and check on his availability to celebrate your marriage before confirming your date with the church. Then, contact our Parish Office to check if the Church is available on your chosen date and time.
Please note: Wedding Masses aren't held on Sundays, Public Holidays, during Holy Week, or the weekend before Christmas.
3. Book the Church ⛪
If your desired date and timeslot are available on our calendar, complete and submit the Wedding Booking Form at our Parish Office. We'll place a tentative booking for a maximum of 2 weeks upon receiving your form. Just a heads-up: all bookings are NOT confirmed until you receive explicit written confirmation from the Church of the Holy Family.
4. Complete Marriage Preparation 💕
Couples are required to attend a Marriage Preparation Course (MPC) or Catholic Engaged Encounter (CEE). Please aim to complete this at least 6 months prior to your wedding date as courses can fill up quickly!
5. Complete Pre-Nuptial Inquiry (PNI) ✅
Arrange to meet with your officiating priest for the PNI. This important formal meeting must be completed at least 4 months before your wedding. It’s a crucial step to ensure all canonical requirements for your marriage are met.
6. Apply for a Marriage Licence📝
If you're having your civil solemnisation concurrently during the Church wedding, you’ll need to apply for a marriage licence with the ROM. Applications open no earlier than three months before the wedding and close no later than three weeks before the wedding. Make sure to apply after you've successfully completed your PNI.
Required Documents
To proceed with your marriage preparation and solemnisation, you’ll typically need to submit the following documents to the Parish Office. Please obtain recent copies where specified:
Baptism Certificates: Recent copy (dated within 6 months of your wedding date) for both Catholic parties, obtained from your parish of baptism.
Confirmation Certificates: For both Catholic parties.
Marriage Preparation Programme Certificate: Proof of completion.
Identification: Copies of NRIC/Passport for both parties.
For Non-Catholic Parties: Proof of baptism (if baptised Christian), or other relevant documents as advised by the priest or parish staff.
For Couples Already Civilly Married: Your civil marriage certificate.
