Music Ministry

"The musical tradition of the Universal Church is a treasure of inestimable value…As sacred song united to the words, it forms a necessary or integral part of the solemn liturgy." – Sacrosanctum Concilium, #112

"Liturgical worship is given a more noble form when the divine offices are celebrated solemnly in song, with the assistance of sacred ministers and the active participation of the people." – Constitution on the Sacred Liturgy, Second Vatican Council

Music is an integral part of Catholic worship and liturgy. At the Church of the Holy Family, our choirs aim to foster a vibrant musical tradition that enhances the experience of worship, deepens spiritual reflection, and encourages the full, active participation of the assembly. Meaningful music is vital to experiencing life-giving, faith-building, and unifying celebrations.

Our choirs minister to the assembly by heightening the Word of God with music and lending beauty to the liturgy. They seek to lead, sustain, and enrich the singing of the congregation, helping to raise every heart to God through song. Indeed, music itself is a profound form of prayer.

An Invitation to Serve

The Music Ministry is open to all parishioners who have a desire to sing and worship the Lord. Our choirs help enhance the celebration of the Mass through music and praise, leading, sustaining, and enriching the singing of the assembly.

If you play a musical instrument and would like to use your talent for the Lord, our Ministry provides an avenue through which individuals may share their gifts and be an integral part of the worship. Our musicians strive to lead the entire congregation in praising God through a diverse repertoire of traditional and contemporary hymns, embracing a wide variety of musical traditions.

Cantors, psalmists, and commentators are often selected from within the choirs and receive additional training for their specific liturgical roles.

Who Should Join Our Choirs?

We are looking for individuals who:

  • Possess musical gifts, love to sing, and enjoy making music with others.

  • Can commit to attending weekly practices.

  • Are able to commit to serving at a regular Mass time.

  • Choral experience is helpful but not a pre-requisite for singers.

  • For instrumentalists, a reasonable level of proficiency is required, especially as this is a live ministry during Mass.

Our Parish Choirs

The Church of the Holy Family is blessed with several choirs that serve our various Mass communities. Each choir has its unique charism and practice schedule, united in their mission to enhance our liturgical celebrations through sacred music.
