Wakes and Funerals

Funerals are often a time of distress for families, and making arrangements under these circumstances can be challenging. Here’s a guide to help you arrange for the wake and funeral service for your loved one.

Submit copies of the Death Certificate and Baptism Certificate to the parish office in person.

Let us know the cremation date and time.

Subject to availability, the parish office will arrange a church funeral minister and a priest, or help with alternatives.

Upon request, the parish’s Wake Prayer Ministry will arrange prayers at the wake. A funeral minister will visit the wake, help the family choose Mass readings and hymns, and guide preparations for the funeral service.

Before departure for church, the funeral minister will offer prayers. At the church, the priest will receive the cortege and lead the funeral service.

Thereafter, the funeral minister will accompany the family to the crematorium and lead the final prayers before cremation.
