Home Communion for the Homebound
"For the bread of God is the bread that comes down from heaven
and gives life to the world." – John 6:33
At Church of the Holy Family, we are dedicated to ensuring that all members of our community, especially those unable to attend Mass, can receive the Body of Christ. Home Communion is a vital ministry for individuals who are temporarily or permanently homebound due to illness, infirmity, or recuperation from surgery.
How to Request Home Communion
To arrange for Holy Communion for yourself or a loved one who is homebound, please get in touch with the Parish Office.
When you call or email, please be prepared to provide the following details:
The name of the homebound person.
Their contact details and address.
Any additional information that might help us understand their needs and situation to facilitate suitable arrangements.
Once your request is received, the Parish Office will assign a minister who will contact the homebound person or their caregivers directly. This initial contact helps our minister understand the specific needs and schedule an appropriate time for the visit. The Body of Christ is typically brought to the homebound immediately after a Mass.
Our Home Communion Ministers
The compassionate service of Home Communion is carried out by dedicated individuals from various ministries, including Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion (EMHCs) and members of the Legion of Mary (LOM), who are specially appointed for this sacred duty.
Sacraments for the Homebound
Homebound persons requiring the Anointing of the Sick or the Sacrament of Reconciliation may also contact the Parish Office directly to make these requests. Our priests are available to administer these sacraments as needed.
